Sri Lanka eyeing Iran’s oil products: Envoy
Sri Lanka is interested in buying Iran’s oil products, Sri Lankan ambassador to Iran Sharif Anis said on Sunday.
Iran and Sri Lanka enjoy long-lasting experience in political, economic and diplomatic cooperation,” Anis said, referring to his country’s readiness in promoting trade cooperation with Iran.
“Sri Lanka is after importing Iran’s oil products and construction materials,” he added.
“Tourism is another issue discussed by the two sides as possible ground for promoting direct investments,” he said.
He also referred to the rescue operation carried out by an Iranian oil tanker called “stream” as 'a humanitarian act'.
An Iranian oil tanker rescued five Bangladeshi crew of a sinking fishing boat in Indian Ocean on December 3.
